Snow Sure
With the lowest piste at 1550m (and the highest 2620m) you are guaranteed snow throughout the season. For the full skiable range, the top of the Fogliette itinerary starts at 3000m, and it’s possible some weeks of the season to ski to the main village at 1200m. Snow canons keep the lower runs in the resort covered throughout the season, regardless of recent snowfalls.
Environment friendly
The local commune is proud of creating a natural ski resort. Environmental mountain management is a priority with 800 new trees a year planted. Chemical-free snow canons ensure pistes are open all winter and the snowcats run on recycled vegetable oil.
Sainte-Foy Resort Area
Black Diamond Lodge is located just 30 minutes from the train station in Bourg-Saint-Maurice and 2h30 to Lyon airport. Even Geneva, in Switzerland, is only 3 hours away. See more about travel below.
Historically inspired natural stone, wood and slate architecture makes Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise world-renowned for its beauty.
Once in the resort, you will experience complete convenience; bars, restaurants, ski lifts & ski schools and shops are all within a 10 minute walk from your chalet. Black Diamond Lodge along with our chalet apartments are located next to our swimming pool and spa, the centre for our professional childcare service. Family Friendly
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is famous for uncrowded pistes. The sight of a lift queue makes the headlines! There are gentle learner pistes and great ski schools, making it ideal for beginners or children.
The Tourist Office makes special efforts to give children a magical experience, with hidden treasure hunts, prizes and certificates for spotting local wildlife or hidden tokens.
The pistes all culminate at the resort – so you can’t get lost or lose your young ones. And although skiing the advanced runs, you are likely to spot your friends and family as you ski around.
Great for Non-Skiers too
With a host of activities for the non-skier, Sainte Foy is a great place to come for a relaxing winter holiday. Nearby is Venture Ski’s indoor spa area with swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. And a massage therapist is available. Take a closer look at our treatment list.
Sainte Foy has many other mountain activities including snow-shoeing, skinning, sledging or relaxing in the Black Diamond library with a good book.
A longer trek to the historic Le Monal village site or a shorter walk to the neighbouring hamlet of Le Planay reveals stunning views. You can try a dog-sled ride for a rare experience, and the ski lifts can be accessed by pedestrians so you can meet the family in a mountain restaurant with ease.
Fancy an afternoon party or a few hours of shopping, then Val d’Isere or Bourg-Sainte-Maurice is 30 minutes drive which can be arranged by our concierge with local taxis or one of our chauffeured minivans.
An Off Piste Paradise
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is one of Nike’s top “sweet spots” in the world. It takes half a day to do this one run, so you will be ready for a hearty meal at the end of it.
The worlds greatest pro skiers rate Sainte-Foy as their ‘go to’ place for its legendary powder. Accessible to intermediates too, offering both intermediate and expert pistes, off-piste learner areas, and some huge “back country” itineraries Sainte-Foy is accessible for all.
Back in the patrolled domain, the south-west-facing bowl ensures shelter from wind, therefore snow falls vertically, and settles naturally – perfect powder. Some pistes are in the sun from first lift, others face more to the west so keep the perfect conditions later in the day.
