Other Ski Areas
San Bernardo area
La Rosière is a 30 minute drive away from Sainte Foy. The ski area here covers both the French and Italian Alps and is South Facing (French Side). It is the perfect day out if you fancy an authentic pizza for lunch, and also offers some superb views down both end of the Tarentaise Valley, and down to Mont Blanc on its Italian side.
Val d’Isere and Tignes are the two parts of the Espace Killy, one of the oldest Ski areas in the Alps. Around a 30 minute drive to both, a ski pass for the whole range gives you 36 square miles of terrain with options for the whole family. Sainte Foy Tarentaise’s ski area is of similar size, however, has fewer pisted slopes than Espace Killy.
Paradiski is the second largest skiable terrain in the whole world, comprising Les Arcs , Peisey-Villandry and La Plagne . With a possibility of accessing 425km of piste, we recommend access from Villaroger , which is a 20 minute drive from Sainte Foy. It has a series of lifts which give you access to the ski area, and you can view the run that will bring you back to the car park from Black Diamond Lodge. Ask a Lodge Host to point it out.

Summer Time in Sainte Foy Tarentaise
Walking: There is an abundance of walking routes around Sainte Foy Tarentaise. Maps of all walking routes are available in the Black Diamond lounge area. The Black Diamond Lodge Team will be only too happy to suggest possible paths to take on any given day.
The Historic Monal Village – The route to the Monal Village is simply beautiful and attracts many visitors throughout the year. The journey is approximately an 11K walk (return) depending on which route you take. The route is inaccessible during the winter unless you ski off piste with a qualified instructor or mountain guide.
Maison a Colonnes: Sainte Foy Tarentaise’s oldest building, the Maison provides superb authentic Savoie cuisine in a beautiful atmosphere.
Chez Merie: Located in the nearby village of Le Miroir, Chez Merie is a tourist attraction in its own right. With beautifully rustic fare and a convivial atmosphere it is an absolute must visit.
Tignes: There is plenty to explore in Tignes, with a large water sports lake, a swimming pool and lifts opening up the mountains to hiking and mountain biking it is a must visit
Val d’Isere: Similarly to Tignes, Val d’Isere is open for mountain biking and has a large swimming pool. It also has a large selection of shops and bars making it an ideal destination for a lazy afternoon
Bourg Saint Maurice: Bourg is a traditional market town just 30 minutes’ drive down the valley. Its market is held every Saturday morning and is well worth visiting to sample the local produce. Equally, it has a cinema showing English films, a co-operative selling many local cheeses and much more
The Local Cols
There are three Cols (Mountain passes) within a 30 minute drive of Sainte Foy Tarentaise which are easily accessible and provide stunning views and gateways to other valleys
Col d’Iseran (2770 m.): Beyond Val d’Isere, the Iseran pass provides stunning views down to Bonneval-sur-Arc in the south and is the highest pass in the Alps.
Col du Petit Sainte Bernard (2188 m.): Past the local resort of La Rosiere, this Col is the alternative gateway to Italy, and the perfect way to experience another culture and country in one day!
Cormet du Roselend (1967 m.): The Roselend winds its way up to a spectacular dam, and if you choose to continue down the other side, you will arrive in the beautiful town of Beaufortain, the original home of the famous cheese. This also is a more picturesque route down to the Lac d’Annecy, another must see destination.
We hope that you have a relaxing and memorable stay with us at Black Diamond Lodge.
